专利说明:

15 20 25 30 2 joints acting between crosspieces of the respective elements for clamping the tank between the clamping jaws when tightening towards the stop.
Because the elements are displaceable along each other towards a stop, the tank can be clamped with a suitable clamping force between the jaws when the elements reach the stop. Thereafter, the screw connection can be tightened with a suitable pretension towards the stop, independent of the clamping force between the jaws and the tank, so that this pretension is taken up by the bracket and not - as with a screw clamp - by the tank. Thus, by means of the invention, the screw connection does not risk losing its pretension if the tank yields to the clamping force between the clamping jaws.
Because the console has two rail elements, which are displaceable one along the other, it can easily be disassembled and assembled from below, e.g. from the underside of a vehicle frame, so that the tank does not first have to be moved sideways to be released. The tank can then be placed easily accessible e.g. at the inside of a frame beam of a truck, so that the outside is free for mounting of other vehicle components.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the stop comprises one of the cross pieces. As a result, there is no need for a separate stop on any of the rails. In this context, however, there is nothing to prevent the stop from including both crosspieces.
An edge surface of the rail element which engages with the stop can furthermore be inclined in a direction of displacement between the elements. Although such an edge surface may have any desired contour, such as a circular recess at one end of the elements, a sloping edge surface may cause the elements to be clamped laterally to each other when tightening the screw connection. More specifically, the side surfaces of the elements facing each other can then be clamped against each other during the tightening, so that the stop also comprises one of these side surfaces and so that the elements are wedged to each other. Thereby, lateral play between the elements can be avoided. If both elements have such inclined edge surfaces, the side surfaces facing each other can be wedged against each other at both the mutually inserted ends of the elements. In one embodiment, the rail elements may have a substantially U-shaped cross section. The screw connection can then extend in the through-channel which is formed between the rails and be available for screwing tools from the closer lower and also the upper end of the channel if necessary.
Inserted flanges of the rail elements may have openings for receiving the crosspieces. The openings can then also be dimensioned to allow the crosspieces to be inserted into the openings from an outside of the bracket. The openings can also have sloping edge surfaces. If e.g. the openings in at least one of the rail elements have inclined edge surfaces, the adjacent crosspiece, which also engages with an inclined edge surface of the second rail element, can distribute the force from the screw joint more uniformly to the two rail elements.
Each crosspiece may have said stop at its opposite ends and a thickened central portion with a bore for a screw of the screw joint. The ends can then be circular-cylindrical pins which can be freely adjusted against the engaging inclined edge surfaces when the screw connection is tightened, without affecting the force distribution in the elements.
The rail elements can also have reinforcements at the inclined edge surfaces. Such reinforcements can be in the form of welded sheet metal pieces locally at the edge surfaces, in order to reduce the stresses in the rail elements.
Other features and advantages of the invention may be apparent from the claims and the following description of exemplary embodiments.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a perspective view obliquely from behind of a main part of a bracket according to the invention; FIG. 2 is a side view with broken away parts of a pair of disassembled rail elements of a bracket according to the invention; FIG. 3 is a side view of a pair of partially collapsed rail members of FIG. 2; and FIG. 4 is a side view with broken away parts of a bracket according to the invention which carries a tank at a frame beam of a motor vehicle.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENT EXAMPLE A bracket according to the invention has a pair of rail elements 10 and 30, each of which has a clamping jaw 24 and 24, respectively. 44 to support and wedge a tank 80 therebetween.
Although the term "console" often refers only to the lower clamping jaw 44 in this case, this term is used here in common for the whole arrangement.
As most clearly shown in FIG. 1, in the exemplary embodiment shown, the rail elements 10, 20 are formed in a set plate with mutually complementary substantially U-shaped cross-sectional profiles, so that the lower element 30 can be slidably received in the upper element 10. More specifically, the upper rail element 10 is formed with a bottom flange 14, a pair of perpendicular opposite side flanges 16 and a pair of bottom flanges 14 parallel to the bottom flange 14. The lower rail member 30 is similarly shaped with a bottom flange 34, a pair of perpendicular opposite side flanges 36 and a pair of the bottom flange 34 parallel outer flanges 38. In each rail element 10, 30 there is a crosspiece 50. Although each crosspiece 50 may be made as a machined part, in the exemplary embodiment it is made by a forging method for good pour strength. Each crosspiece 50 has a thickened center portion 54 with a bore 56 and a pair of opposite end pins 52. The end pins 52 of the upper crosspiece 50 are received in opposite openings 20 of the upper rail member 10 and the end pins 52 of the lower crosspiece 50 are correspondingly received in the opposite openings 40 of the lower rail element 30. As can be seen from e.g.
FIG. 2, the openings 20, 40 may be shaped and sized to allow the crosspieces 50 to be inserted from the outside into the rail members 10, 30. A screw joint 60 (FIG. 1) having a screw 62 and a nut 64, the bores 56 in the crosspieces 50 extend to contract the rail members 10, 30 and thereby clamp the tank between the clamping jaws 24, 44.
The arrangement is such that when the tank 80 is sufficiently clamped between the clamping jaws 24, 44, at least one of the cross-pieces, such as the upper cross-piece 50, forms a stop for further pushing of the rail elements. More specifically, a pair of edge surfaces 42 of the lower element 30 then come into contact with the end pins 52 of the upper crosspiece which thereby form the stop which prevents the lower element 30 from being displaced further upwards. The screw connection 60 can then be tightened with a suitable pretension towards this stop.
In the embodiment shown, the edge surfaces 42 are furthermore inclined in one direction, so that they clamp or wedge the elements 10, 30 towards each other at the upper end of the lower element 30 when the screw connection 60 is tightened towards the upper stop 52.
In the embodiment shown, the lower crosspiece 50 also forms a corresponding stop, where inclined edge surfaces 22 of the upper element 10 wedge the elements 10, 30 against each other at the lower end of the upper element 10 when the screw connection 60 is tightened against the lower stop 52.
As can be seen from e.g. FIG. 1, the openings 40 of the lower member 30 may also have a sloping edge surface 41. When the cylindrical end pins 52 of the lower crosspiece 50 engage with respective sloping edge surfaces 22 and 41, then the forces against the elements 10, 30 may be more uniformly distributed as indicated by krattpilarnai FIG. 4. In addition, when the resulting bending force in the bracket from the weight of the tank 80 can be absorbed by the rail elements 10, 30, without the screw 60 being bent.
In FIG. 1 also shows the possibility of reinforcing the elements 10, 30 in the engagement with the crosspieces 50. Although other arrangements are possible, in the embodiment shown the upper element 10 is connected, e.g. plug welded, with a pair of outer reinforcement pieces 70 each having a complementary inclined edge surface 72 (only one is shown in FIGS. 1 and 4) at the inclined edge surfaces 22. The lower element 30 can then also be correspondingly connected, t. ex. plug welded, with in this case an inner U-shaped reinforcement piece 74 with a pair of complementary inclined edge surfaces 76 (only one is shown in FIG. 1) at the inclined edge surfaces 41 of the openings 40.
FIG. 4 shows a tank 80 mounted on a frame beam 92 of a truck 90 not further manufactured by means of a bracket according to the invention. The upper clamping jaw 24, which clamps the tank 80 against the lower clamping jaw 44, suitably has a sloping underside 25 which by wedge action prevents the tank from moving out of the bracket.
In addition, the lower clamping jaw 44 may have a curved end portion 45 which forms the tank 80 at the bracket.
The above detailed description is primarily intended to facilitate understanding and any unnecessary limitations of the invention should not be construed as such. The modifications which become apparent to one skilled in the art upon review of the specification may be practiced without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
